Successful hydroponic growing requires monitoring and controlling the nutrient solution before you make it available to your plants. Two of the most important factors to know are the pH and the CF (also known as EC and PPM) of the nutrient solution. The pH of the solution indicates how acidic or alkaline the solution is. The pH has a bearing on which nutrients are available to the plant. The CF (Conductivity Factor), EC (Electrical Conductivity) or PPM (Parts per Million) all indicate how much nutrient is in the solution
